PATIENT & CAREGIVER ADVOCACY FOR FAMILIES IN THE TAMPA BAY AREA & BEYOND

You don’t have to do this alone.

I help families in the Tampa Bay area and across the country navigate complex healthcare challenges, dementia, hospital discharges, and difficult medical systems with clarity and compassion.

With more than 20 years of well-rounded clinical experience and the lived reality of caring for my own parents, I provide steady, informed advocacy when families need it most.

What does a patient advocate actually do?

A patient advocate works alongside your family, not instead of your doctors, but to help you understand what's happening, ask the right questions, coordinate care, and make sure your loved ones’ care does not get missed.

A few years ago, I stood exactly where you are standing now…

Hi! I’m Melissa. For more than 20 years, I worked in both clinical and administrative roles in health care. I understood the medical system. I trusted it.

Then my mother developed aggressive dementia, and I suddenly found myself on the other side of the bed rail.

I gave up my nursing career to care for her. I brought her home. And I learned very quickly that without medical knowledge and strong advocacy, patients can get lost in the medical system quickly.

I knew how to read the charts. I knew what questions to ask. I knew when something was not right and how to push back.

Most families never get that advantage.

This work exists because you deserve someone who understands both the medical system and the heartbreak. Someone who can step in so you can stop being the case manager and go back to being a daughter or son.

That is why I founded Inspired Health Advocacy Group.

In memory of my mother.

Caregiving isn’t just time-consuming.

It’s emotionally relentless.

  • THE MEDICAL MAZE

You are drowning in medical records, test results, medication changes, insurance confusion, and rushed appointments that leave you feeling foolish for even asking questions.

You leave knowing something matters, but not fully understanding what it means or what to do next.

  • THE FAMILY STRAIN

One sibling often becomes the point person. The one answering calls, tracking medications, managing crises, and carrying the emotional weight.

Other siblings may live far away, disagree on decisions, or cope by stepping back.

Even in loving families, resentment builds. Conversations grow tense. You stop feeling like a daughter or son and start feeling like a manager.

  • THE GUILT & WORRY

You lie awake wondering if you missed something important. If your parent is safe. If wanting a break makes you selfish.

The guilt never fully shuts off.

If this sounds familiar, it does not mean you are failing.

It means you are trying to do something incredibly hard without enough support.
